Diving – Under Water Wonders - Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Nang Yuan

For hardcore nature enthusiasts, going underwater in the Thai gulf surrounding Koh Samui, Koh Tao and other neighboring islands, is simply an exhilarating experience. For mere mortals, it might just be an experience of a lifetime.

Diving in the islands of Koh Tao or the turtle island, and Koh Nang Yuan is virtually an all year-round activity, of course except during November and December when the monsoon rains are in town.

Koh Tao, a bean-shaped island, boasts of more than 10 bays, beautiful beaches and crystal clear seas with kilometers after kilometers of long coral reef teeming with marine life. At dive sites just a kilometer from the island, you’ll be swimming among pelagic, barracudas, big-eyed jacks, tuna, giant travellys and the colorful clown fish. The proximity to the “underwater classrooms” for diving courses makes Koh Tao ideal for beginners.

Another popular dive site is at Kong Hin Wong which teems with huge sea fans, Cetmocella, sea whips and other soft corals. On Koh Hong Sai Daeng, whale sharks often lurk around. Hin Tung Ku and Kong Hin Khao are also interesting deep-sea diving sites, thanks to a myriad of marine animals and rare black coral.

Exploring the wonders of these islands – especially in the deep blue – is simply one of travel’s greatest pleasures.
