It is Surat Thani's major tourist attraction. Climate and Weather The climate is very pleasant throughout the year, with temperatures varying from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius. There are three seasons: - Warm season from March till May.
- Rainy season from the end of September till November.
- The "cool" season which extends from December till February.
December - February It is Thai winter. For this season, Samui has only cool wind and soft sunlight all day. Anyway, the waves can be quite high. Most tourists love to come to Samui in this period, so you should book the room before visiting.
March - April The most colorful time; fresh seafood, various kinds of tropical fruits, and full of festivals. But the weather is very hot and the sunlight is as strong as you cannot be far away from your sunglasses and sun block.
May - June It sometimes rains in the beginning of spring. Still, most of the time there is plenty of sunshine and is not very different from March and April. The waves are still quite high but the weather gets a bit cooler. Perfect time for adventure and all outdoor sports.
July - October These 4 months are the most perfect time of playing in water because the sea is surely calm and it has sunshine every morning. It often rains in afternoon or evening, but it makes you feel cool and fresh. Unfortunately, not many tourists know about this.
November There is always the risk of storms in this month and it has a bit more rain. The waves get much higher. But you can still see the sunshine almost every morning. Moreover, you can travel on Samui at a cheaper cost while the beach becomes more calm and private.
Before planing your trip to Samui, it is best to check the weather conditions first. From February till October, the temperature is of an average of 32 to 38 degrees, but from July till September, there can be some showers, but only for a few hours. Rainy season often amounts in fact to some refreshing showers followed by the return of the sun. The climate is tropical so very humid all year round, but Samui is always refreshed by a pleasant sea breeze coming from the Gulf. The island is situated 9.11°N and 99.30°E and at an altitude of about 10 meters above the sea level.
